So 2009 is over  and what a year that was for gaming, With the smash em aside all conquering victory of Modern Warfare 2 seemingly taking the charts by the hips and thrusting forward.

It was because of the looming release of MW2 that many software houses put off releasing games pre xmas and instead concentrated on making 2010 the year of the gamer.

TUWC is gonna guide you through some of the stunners you can expect this year.

Mass Effect 2 - Xbox360 and PC

2007's Mass Effect was a smash hit with gamers and the

sequel is sure to follow suite, Mass Effect 2 continues the

story of Commander Shepard, There are new aliens/planets

and a much improved combat system to boot.

Add to this vastly better graphics and a deeper story line and we predict a riot (well of the 22nd century type).

The game is due late January

Bioshock 2 Xbox360,PS3,PC

Breaking from the mould of fire and forget FPS games  the first Bioshock took us much further than many of us dared go.

Bioshock 2 will see us returning to the depths of the underwater city of Rapture, Fear not though you will be taking the role of one of the superhuman Big Daddy's from the original.

We are promised multiplayer options this time round aswell.

Due for release on Feb 9th

God Of War III PS3

God of War is surely one of the most recognised marques in the gaming world and its latest incarnation is the first to be released on the PS3.

Spartan warrior Kratos returns for his "final" adventure in March.

New weapons, a redesigned combat system and the promise of up to 50 on screen enemies at one time this game promises to be one of 2010's bloodiest offerings.

Expect Kratos in March.

Red Dead Redemption Xbox360,PS3

Judging from the recently released gameplay video this years offering from Rockstar "Grand Theft Horses" as its been dubbed looks as though its gonna be deeper than its urban cousin.

Set in 1908 Redemption follows reformed outlaw John Marston as he drifts his way across the wild west in a gun slinging,train ridin,bank robbing epic. Offering massive open world game fields and a random element to gameplay rather than a scripted one this looks set to be a smash.

Of course honour and morality come into it  with games being course shifted  according to your actions.

Expect yeehaws and gunsmoke in April.

Gran Turismo 5 PS3

Way back in 2006 sony announced that its Flagship racing simulator was on its way. Fast forward to 2010 and after many delays it was given a release date.

The game has been reworked from the gorund up with stunning visuals  and amazing realism.

The big new feature is an online mode with 16 players racing together, But beware you can't just drive with reckless abandon as mechanical and external damage to cars has been included in the game.

Prepare for the chequered flag  in March
